of the Biltmore
This is the lovely, historical, Andrews Memorial Chapel, in Dunedin, Florida. (right by their Hammock Park) This is a most charming wood chapel, early Florida Victorian architecture, that was erected in 1888 and placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. (The Belleview Biltmore is also on this Register) The chapel is constructed from the very sturdy Florida heart of pine, the same wood that the Belleview Biltmore is made of. The chapel is open from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
The inside was just beautiful with wooden pews and a beautiful round stained glass in the front. On the inside, the chapel has received an award from the Florida Trust for their preservation efforts. ( www.floridatrust.org ) The executive director of this Florida Trust organization is Kathleen Slesnick Kauffman who HAS already written to us and placed the Belleview Biltmore just recently on the 10 Most Endangered List in Florida Trust. For new readers, it is because of the huge amount of emails she has received (through the ONE MINUTE LETTER campaign) on the main Biltmore web page, that this helped to show support that we need to save the Belleview Biltmore.
The
Dunedin Historical Society obviously went to great lengths to preserve
this lovely wood chapel, and we need to preserve the Biltmore with that
same effort! The chapel is used for weddings and other
occasions. Visit it, feel the warmth, feel the charm, then visit
the Belleview Biltmore and feel that same charm. . See the chapel's
web site for more photos, address etc: http://www.andrewsmemorialchapel.com/
